Elvis At The Big Dance

In a report on CBS Sunday Morning this morning there was a segment detailing the NFL instant replay and its history.

Integral to its success in recounting the action throughout broadcasts is replay producer Ryan Galvin of CBS who must navigate through images displayed on 115 cameras, three SkyCams flying through the air and 28 others cameras embedded in places such as the pylons marking the edges of the end zones. In order to do this, Galvin has names attached to all the cameras including, of course, The King ... simply named "Elvis" as noted in the following photo:

Elvis. He's everywhere. Even at The Super Bowl.

P.S. Here's the link to the video piece.

Elvis On A Sunday Morning

Elvis. He's everywhere.

Even on CBS Sunday Morning this very morning. The program provided an almanac piece noting, 45 years to the day, January 14th saw the broadcast of "Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite," a cancer benefit concert billed as the world's first live satellite concert by a solo artist.

It just goes to show you, no matter what, it's not possible for anyone to deny the fact: Everywhere you go there Elvis is.

2nd Hand Elvis

Looking through long-playing records while at one of the local hospice shops this morning I look up and what do I see?

Elvis ... looking back at me ...

Elvis. He's everywhere. Even sneakily peeking out from thrift store book shelves.

HNY With Tortelvis

What's the New Year without Tortelvis of Dread Zeppelin wishing everyone a Happy 2018 ... ??? (Or at least belting out "Blue Christmas" ... ???)

That's what I thought ...

Elvis. He's everywhere.

Lesson? Just goes to show you: Indeed, Elvis is everywhere.

Even during the Christmas season.

A Christmas Wish ... From El Vez

Yes, Elvis is everywhere ...

He's even present in this excellent holiday tune, Christmas Wish, by El Vez of Chula Vista, California.

It's a Yuletide favorite of mine and has been for many, many years. I hope, after you peruse it for your very self, it will be one of yours as well.

After all, it's a song about unrequited love. But with a twist. In the end, our hero gets his Christmas wish ...

More Than Just An Image ...

"The image is one thing
and the human being is another.
It's very hard to live up to an image ..."
- Elvis

My youngest daughter and I were out and about when she first asked who Elvis Presley was. She saw something that triggered the question. I don't remember what it was.

"Who is Elvis anyway, Dad?" she asked me.

"Well" I thought for a moment "he's the King of Rock And Roll."

She looked at me. "I didn't know there were kings in rock and roll ..."

"It's just a name, a title people have given to him. He was not only popular when he was alive but he's still remembered and a lot of people like him even today. A lot of music has been written with Elvis in mind."

"So ... he was kinda like Michael Jackson. That kind of popular?" she asked.

"Bigger" I replied. "In fact he's so popular, even though he's dead, Elvis is everywhere."

"I don't understand" she said. "He's dead ... but he's 'everywhere' ... ??? What do you mean?"

"Everywhere you go, there he is. Anywhere you go, you can see Elvis. Elvis is everywhere. You'll see ... I'll show you the next time I see him."

Not long after this conversation, the two of us were in a Target, cruising down an aisle. In one section there were a bunch of plush figures and dolls, a couple of which were singing Elvis dolls. As it was Christmastime, the song you could access on the figure was "Blue Christmas." I tapped my daughter's shoulder.

"Remember we were taking about Elvis the other day? Remember when I said Elvis was everywhere? Well, here he is ... in Target." I pushed the button on the plush figure and it began swaying. "Blue Christmas" came loudly from it. Her eyes opened wide and she smiled.

A week or so later, there was a billboard advertisement featuring Elvis. I pointed and told her "See? Elvis is everywhere." She laughed.

At a garage sale, there was Elvis paraphernalia for sale. I pointed at it. She looked at me: "Elvis really is everywhere, isn't he?" I nodded.

And so ... this blog. To show the various locations and sightings and anomalies and curiosities of The King of Rock And Roll - the late, the great Elvis Aaron Presley.

Because, after all ... he's everywhere. He's even been to San Diego Comic-Con as shown in the image above ...

Indeed, Elvis is everywhere ...

Uh-huh-huh ...
